GRIS PIÑOR granite, also known as GRIS MORRAZO, is geologically classified as a biotite granite. The stone is light grey, has medium-sized grains and astounding uniformity in both its texture and colour. These exceptional characteristics have made this granite extremely popular in highly-demanding sectors such as funeral monuments. Naturally, being a mineral rock of superior quality, you can find it in a wide-range of public works projects throughout the European Union and in the United States, transformed into paving stones, slabs, kerbs, urban furniture and other stonework products.
This quarry is located in the municipality of Padrenda –Ourense Province– some five kilometres from the border with Portugal. GRANITOS DEL VAL has been extracting and promoting this material for the past 25 years and, at present, the quarry has a maximum extraction capacity of 1600 m3 per month of granite blocks.
In geological terms, ROSAVEL can be classified as a granite with megacrysts of potassium feldspar. The result of this combination is a surface from which the incredible beauty of these pinkish pearls shines from a foundation whose predominant colours are white and light-grey tones.
The exclusivity of this stone and its astonishing beauty make this the most-frequent granite of choice for architects and interior designers to add a distinctive and elegant touch when decorating the insides and outsides of their most emblematic projects. In addition to these purely aesthetic qualities, ROSAVAL granite is equally valid in the most common surface finishes –polished, flamed, bush-hammered, tumbled, sand-blasted and river-washed– that the industry tends to employ. And never altering with the passage of time.
